How can you develop in your relationship with Him? The answer is simple, yet very profound. You can create a more intimate walk with God the same way you may develop closeness with your closest friends. Spend Time With Him.
Spending time with God is adventurous and fun. And it is very possible. And because we are all created for a unique and special purpose, by spending time with Him, He is able to reveal to us the path we need to take, the decisions we need to make and the areas we must avoid in order to experience His best for our lives.
There are varied things we can do to develop in our walk with God. Here a a few of them:
1. Spend time with Him daily.
This is vital because it is only as we spend time with God can we truly get to know Him. God wants us to know Him, but it takes time.
2. Read His Holy Word Daily.
Develop the habit of reading the BIBLE everyday. God and His Word are One. Therefore His Word is vital to developing closeness with Him. God’s Word is God speaking to you, communicating with you, sharing with you, imparting His Wisdom and Knowledge to you.
Prayer is speaking to God. When we read God’s Word, it is God speaking to us. By praying, we are speaking to Him. We are sharing with Him what is on our hearts and minds. He already knows what’s there, but He loves to hear from us. Communication is key to having intimacy with the Lord.
4. Learn to do what you read in God’s Word.
By doing what God says in His Word, you are showing Him that you believe Him, love Him and respect Him as God. Obedience to God will always produce great blessing in your life.
These are just a few simple principles to apply in order to experience a real walk with the God. The starting place is to make sure that Jesus Christ is in your heart. You receive Him into your heart as Lord by simply saying, “Lord Jesus Christ, I believe You are the Son of God and that You died for me. I believe that God raised You from the dead and right now I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Amen.
